How does the fashion industry POSITIVELY affect your life?

Hello everyone :)

I have a question, specifically for Dhaanya and Andrea: Since you do not feel that the fashion industry negatively affects young girls, how does it POSITIVELY affect them?

To make it more "juicy", reply with your own personal response... If you want. ;)

  1. Although many people say that the fashion industry affects young children and although some people do get affected, there are many people who are not affected. Some see how thin and unhealthy some anorexic models are and do not want to become like them. Some people who are fatter also see healthy looking models and work towards it by leading a healthier lifestyle. Instead of encouraging the young children to wear unappropriate clothes, it actually allows people, young and old, to express themselves through fashion and style, the brigt colours and patterns on their clothing portrays who they are, cheering them up at times too. Fashion is not about wearing branded clothes, it is not about your body size, fashion advises people on how to dress well, boosting their confidence on how they carry themselves. It makes people feel good.

    1. Yes very good point Dhaanya. I love your description of fashion as a form of expression, of creativity, of art. Indeed, fashion sometimes isnt just about looking perfect. Imperfection is a way of perfection and often a beauty in itself. (:

  2. Don't you think that if people are unable to fit into clothes that they like, they won't feel bad even though they are of healthy size?

  3. But most of the style you see on runways is Haute Couture, basically "pretty" fashion which no one "normal" would wear. How does looking at models modeling haute couture encourage people to express themselves with what they wear? Unless you wear dinner plates to tuition every now and then.
