This is an e-book version of "Learn The Secrets To Successful Modelling" that shows the requirements of becoming a fashion model. As you read on, you will see how important it is to be skinny to make it as a FASHION model.

To Andera and Dhannya:
Now, how can you say that the fashion industry is not at fault for encouraging unhealthy body? An experienced writer herself has written that it is absolutely necessary to be skinny thin to make it into the fashion industry. How can you say that the fashion industry is not responsible for the negative impacts on the newer generation of girls, when this industry has always been known for its glamorous ''perfect-figured'' skinny models and extremely small (as in size 0,00) and revealing clothes? What evidence do you have to support to say that the fashion industry and the skinny models have NO impact to the increasing number of eating disorders? Do you really think that by just changing a few models will completely wipe off the effect that has already been left on young minds? Why do you say that eating disorders are self-induced? Every mental problem has reasons, and why can't the reason be the modelling industry?

Anorexia is not about weight or food

I have found out that Anorexia is not caused mainly by the fashion industry.

I quote:
Believe it or not, anorexia isn’t really about food and weight—at least not at its core. Eating disorders are much more complicated than that. The food and weight-related issues are symptoms of something deeper: things like depression, loneliness, insecurity, pressure to be perfect or feeling out of control. Things that no amount of dieting or weight loss can cure.
When I say "pressure to be perfect", it does not mean pressure to look good. Rather, it's the pressure of being for example, a perfect daughter or son, or having parents that are overly controlling. Then, it is in fact caused by various social, emotional and biological factors.
People with anorexia are often perfectionists and overachievers. They’re the “good” daughters and sons who do what they’re told, excel in everything they do, and focus on pleasing others. But while they may appear to have it all together, inside they feel helpless, inadequate, and worthless. Through their harshly critical lens, if they’re not perfect, they’re a total failure.
Biological factor:
Research suggests that a genetic predisposition to anorexia may run in families. If a girl has a sibling with anorexia, she is 10 to 20 times more likely than the general population to develop anorexia herself. Brain chemistry also plays a significant role. People with anorexia tend to have high levels of cortisol, the brain hormone most related to stress, and decreased levels of serotonin and norepinephrine, which are associated with feelings of well-being.

Doesn't the term Eating Disorders come to your head when you think of the skinny models? Share your views on how far you think the fashion industry is responsible for the increasing number of younger and younger girls who are becoming Eating Disorder patients and are at the verge of death.

Dhaanya and Andrea: The Fashion Industry creates a positive impact on people

The fashion industry is often seen as negative, but have you thought about how it has tried to help people? In relation to the pretty recent Japan disaster, the Fashion Industry have been aiding in the Japan Tsunami Relief efforts. http://www.styleite.com/media/fashion-japan-disaster-relief/#0
Because the fashion industry is so broad and large, it can easily reach out to the rest of the world to call for help.

Why people like the fashion industry so much? http://www.fashionaddictgirl.com/?p=82

A very useful video that Dhaanya has found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IiF0VhqUpA

BLOGS AND DOCUMENTARIES

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fF0lAlo80fU (part 1 of a BBC documentary on eating disorders. From this you can see for yourself how these girls have been affected by thin models to become like them and how they consider their skinny bodies ''fat'')

Twenty years ago, the average fashion model weighed 8 percent less than the average woman. Today, she weighs 23 % less.... ! When was the last time we saw a healthy model? Do you remember Whitney Thompson? The plus-sized model that won America's Next Top Model cycle 10, she is full-figured but she is still part of the high-end fashion industry. If Tyra Banks can realise that beauty is not bones then why not the rest of the fashion industry ? If the anorexics, size 0s,00s can be banned, the statistics will change to become much better. (Madrid Fashion Week in 2006, New York Fashion Week 2010 and a few fashion labels- Prada, Versace, Armani as well as Victoria Beckham have banned size 0. This can help create a brighter future for the industry but there are still a large number of models suffering. The sickness that the industry has left behind might be hard to get rid of)

Do you think that the one of the negative effects of the fashion industry is that it promotes eating disorders in young girls?
Just to enhance and enlighten you a bit

I'll post some videos up soon to :)

How does the fashion industry POSITIVELY affect your life?

Hello everyone :)

I have a question, specifically for Dhaanya and Andrea: Since you do not feel that the fashion industry negatively affects young girls, how does it POSITIVELY affect them?

To make it more "juicy", reply with your own personal response... If you want. ;)
Hey guys, Kristianne and Neha, how do you guys agree with the statement? Do you actually have many younger siblings or cousins that dress too old for their age? What evidence do you have? How do they dress unappropriately?
